Follow High Standards of Hygiene with a Hand Held Bidet

Time to say goodbye to messy toilet paper in your bathroom. The best way to follow high standards of hygiene today is to make use of a hand held bidet. These are small sprays which can clean the buttocks and private parts. Other than toilets, bidets can also be used in the showers. The tiny holes which allow water to pass through are most convenient for use in the shower.

With the help of an easy bidet attachment, you can do away with toilet paper. If you choose an electronic bidet, it can provide you with water at a temperature of your choice. The electric bidet will also help keep the toilet seat warm, which is extremely helpful during winters.  You would not want to be greeted by a frozen toilet seat on a cold winter morning now, would you?

Installation of the new electric bidet requires taking out the existing toilet seat. The reason for this is the fitting of the bidet takes place right below the seat. Once done, the seat can be fitted back again. This is the reason that the electric bidet also helps to keep the toilet seat warm, as mentioned above.

The purchase of a bidet is entirely dependent on your budget. If you have a low bidet, then fitting the non-electric or conventional bidet may be a convenient option. On the other hand, fitting an electronic bidet will definitely cost you much more. However, if you do not mind an initial expenditure, then such an attachment will provide you with a lot more comfort than the traditional bidet. It also has other features such as built-in air deodorisers, self-rinsing nozzles and a remote control for temperature.

A portable bidet is one that can be carried with you during outdoor trips. It can fit into a bag of any size. You may not be able to find the bidets installed in every hotel room that you stay in. Once you get into the habit of using the bidet at home, you may feel uncomfortable when it is not available. This is the reason why the portable bidet is highly popular among frequent travellers.

This device is a unique personal hygiene system for people on the move. It is meant to make cleansing more convenient for all. The device also prevents discomforts caused due to infections, itching, haemorrhoids and other such problems. In short, it allows you to be clean and fresh at anytime and anywhere.

The Haunted Hotels From Around the World for Your Halloween Night

Boo!! ‘Tis the season once more, when everything scary, silly and strange becomes really cool (and we’re not talking about the American presidential election). Happy Halloween everyone!! October 31 is fast approaching and the gross and ghoulish will be out and about, looking for candy and trying to scare the bejeezes out of you. Seeing it’s about that time, to relate tales from the crypt, who are we to not pander to the masses and give our very own chilling list of haunted hotels from around the world.

During our extensive research we were surprised to find that Europe and North America seem to have an inordinate amount of spirits who just don’t want to leave their former residences (though we’re thinking with the recent economic downturn, many may change their minds and finally move on). Even so, there are places to stay around the world where spooks and specters float in the night…. Here is our top 13!

The Nottingham Road Hotel (South Africa)

What’s the best way to keep good staff? Don’t let them leave. This hotel in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa has a barmaid who apparently decided the tips were just too good. The barmaid’s spirit has been known to move pots around the pub, open beer taps, ring a service bell (which was supposedly no longer in working order) and has even been attributed to deflating tires of certain guests. They were poor tippers of course.

Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel (USA)

There are so many haunted hotels in the United States, it was tough to pick just a few. We picked this one because it’s just so cool. The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood, California is supposedly home to the ghosts or Marilyn Monroe and Montgomery Clift. Marilyn is said to haunt a full length mirror that was once in a room she was known to frequent. Guests have reported catching glimpses of the blonde bombshell in the mirror as they pass. Clift stayed in room 928 while filming From Here to Eternity and guests have reported being able to hear him pacing and rehearsing his lines.

Buma Inn (China)

The Chinese take their spirits seriously, and this one at the Buma Inn in Beijing seriously wants revenge. Apparently a guest at the Inn was poisoned by the chef and subsequently died. The chef was so upset about it, that he then killed himself afterwards. The murdered guest is said to be seen roaming the halls forever in search of the chef, looking to inflict his revenge.

Breakfast Creek Inn (Australia)

According to the Brisbane Visitor’s Guide this Brisbane hotel is apparently known to almost the entire population of Australia. If that wasn’t weird enough, it’s apparently haunted as well. It was built in 1889 by William Galloway, the former Lord Mayor of Brisbane. One night, apparently drunk, he fell from a second floor window to his death in 1895. Having undergone many renovations since then, his ghost is said to have been seen and heard wandering the older, original portions of the hotel.

Toftaholm Herrgard (Sweden)

Once home to a baron this hotel in Toftaholm, Sweden is haunted by a young boy. The boy, a commoner, fell in love with the baron’s daughter. The baron disapproved and arranged for his daughter to be married to someone else. On the day of the wedding, the boy hung himself in the rafters. His spirit is said to haunt room 324 where the rafters once were.

Genting Highlands Resort (Malaysia)

Located just north of Kuala Lumpur, this popular resort and casino has apparently seen its fair share of suicides by those distraught after incurring gambling debts at the tables. Various visitors have related stories of seeing a man jump from the top of the hotel only to vanish before hitting the ground. It’s also said there are rooms in the hotel that are not available to stay in no matter what the occupancy level of the hotel because of the strong presence of otherworldly spirits.

Ballygally Castle Hotel (Ireland)

It’s a castle, therefore it must be haunted. The Ballygally Castle Hotel is haunted by Lady Isabella Shaw, who was imprisoned here in the 17th century for the horrible crime of giving birth to a daughter instead of a boy. So distraught, she apparently jumped to her death clutching her daughter. Her ghost is said to be heard wandering the halls, knocking on doors…while holding her crying baby. Creeeeepy.

Dragsholm Slot – Hotel (Denmark)

Another castle (go figure), this one located in Sealand, Denmark is home to three ghosts; the Gray Lady, White Lady and the Earl of Bothwell. The Gray Lady is apparently a maiden who was so devoted to the castle she returns nightly to check on the grounds. The Earl of Brothwell was captured here in the 1500’s and imprisoned in the cellar where he subsequently went mad and died, now forever to wander the halls. The White Lady is a daughter of one of the former owners who fell in love with a commoner. Her father found out about the illicit affair and imprisoned her in the castle. During renovations in the 1930’s a skeleton in a white dress was found behind one of the walls lending credence to the tale.

The Stanley Hotel (USA)

We like creepy movies, and Stanley Kubrick’s “The Shining” is as creepy as they come. Based on the Stephen King novel, King himself based the Overlook Hotel in his book on The Stanley Hotel in Park Estes, Colorado. The Stanley is said to be haunted by its original owner F.O. Stanley and his wife Flora. Stanley’s ghost has been seen wandering the lobby, bar and Billiard Room while Flora continues to play the piano in the Music Room. Guests have reportedly heard music coming from the room. When they open the door the keys are seen moving on the piano as well, but as soon as they go closer to investigate, the music stops.

The Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel (Canada)

Set in picturesque Banff, Alberta the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel is said to be haunted by a ghost bride. Legend has it that a bride was walking down the grand staircase to the lobby for her wedding reception. The “train” on her gown apparently brushed against one of the numerous candles used to light the lobby and caught fire. In her panic, she apparently tripped and fell down the stairs, breaking her neck. Her ghost has been seen wandering the halls still in her dress. Just more proof that eloping is the best choice.

The Savoy Hotel (India)

Famous as the inspiration for Agatha Christie’s first novel The Mysterious Affair at Styles, the Savoy Hotel in Mussoorie, India is apparently haunted by its former owner, Lady Orme. Murdered by sipping on some strychnine mysteriously placed in her medicine bottle, Ms. Orme’s murderer was never found. Her ghost has reportedly been seen aimlessly walking the halls of her old hotel.

The Langham Hilton Hotel (England)

An iconic hotel in the middle of London, the Langham is reputedly one of the most haunted hotels in the world, with as many as 7 different ghosts seen from time to time. Some of the ghosts are dressed in Victorian clothing, one of the ghosts is said to be that of a German soldier, another is said to be the ghost of doctor who murdered his wife and then killed himself, and the Emperor Louis Napolean III is said to haunt the basement. Room 333 is supposed to be the most haunted of all, in which a BBC reporter watched a specter appear from a floating, glowing ball, right in front of his eyes.

The Queen Mary (USA)

It’s a boat, a hotel and it’s haunted. How cool is that! The former luxury liner was bigger and faster than the Titanic in her day and was used to transport troops in World War II. Now permanently docked in Long Beach, California and converted to a floating hotel, the Queen Mary is reportedly home to various different ghosts. The boat has been the site of 49 deaths, so there could be a few ghosts to choose from. There is the sailor crushed behind Door 13 of the engine room, now seen roaming the halls only to disappear behind the very same door that killed him, there are the women in 30’s style bathing suits seen sitting around the first class pool (though the pool has been closed for decades) and there’s the little girl who drowned in the second class poolroom, often seen (and heard) in the area while clutching a teddy bear. There is apparently more, but we’re just too freaked out to continue talking about it.

Caribbean Beach Vacations: Top 10 Destinations

Looking for the best Caribbean beach vacation? Hey, I love sharing the highlights of all the places I visit and learn about. Below you’ll find my top 10 picks for a great beach vacation with examples of what’s special about them. Then you can decide which one you think would be the best beach vacation in the Caribbean for your trip!

Aruba:

This place is for those that like a non-stop vacation with lots of restaurants, bars casinos. The beaches are gorgeous, the water is wonderful and it hardly ever rains. The scuba diving is awesome with great opportunities for photography. The fishing is pretty good too.

Barbados:

Your troubles will simply wash away in the soft island serenity of this great beach vacation destination. Brighton Beach is a great place to stay for your Caribbean beach vacation and the most popular here. If you want a little more privacy you can get secluded villas around the island. Taking that horseback ride on the beach will feel as if you’re in a movie and I would highly recommend trying it. Probably my second favorite beach vacation overall.

Turks and Caicos Islands:

Like long beach walks? At 12 miles long, Grace Bay is simply a phenomenal stretch of soft white sand with smaller luxury resorts, spas and great restaurants perfect for a beach honeymoon vacation. And the water color is the most vibrant translucent turquoise… I love it! Seems that many movie stars and rock stars like it too with several owning homes and vacationing here on some of the 8 secluded islands all with fantastic beaches. Turks & Caicos has long been a diver’s paradise with great deep-sea and bone fishing too! Taking the kids? Well, Beaches Resort consistently gets high marks as one of the world’s best family beach vacation spots.

Bahamas:

Technically not in the Caribbean, but with so many beautiful beaches I had to add it to the best beach vacation list… it’s close enough. Paradise Island is great fun especially swimming with the dolphins, which is an experience of a lifetime. The diving here is fantastic because of the calm waters and enjoying the nightlife is all kinds of fun. For a secluded romantic get-a-way try the pink sand beach on Harbor Island.

British Virgin Islands & U.S. Virgin Islands:

Both make great beach vacations, especially for island hopping. Having a chance to easily enjoy not 1, 2, but potentially 3 islands or more each with it’s own charm make for one of the best beach vacation spots. Trunk Bay on St. John is particularly gorgeous and popular with calm waters and an underwater snorkeling “trail.”

Cayman Islands:

A very entertaining destination with odd things like feeding iguanas grapes while dining at a restaurant. Definitely worth it for the pictures! Three islands in all, its another great place to island hop and enjoy waterfall climbing, extensive shark diving, and swimming with the stingrays and shopping, shopping, shopping.

Dominican Republic:

Here is a place you can go for a cheap beach vacation and still enjoy all the splendid beauty of a Caribbean island. Have a great time scuba diving, swimming with dolphins, deep sea fishing and hiking. Fabulous beaches too!

Anguilla:

A fun Caribbean beach vacation to tell your friends about. It’s the only area known in the Caribbean to have beautiful white sandy beaches deserted during peak season, which makes this a great place for couples to enjoy. Especially with activities that include windsurfing, scuba diving, and snorkeling. Oh, and if you love seafood, all I can say is, “The best chefs in the Caribbean!”

St. Lucia:

A honeymooners delight. Think jazz music, small island, secluded and intimate and that is St. Lucia. Beautiful beaches, lush tropical foilage, scenic mountains, spectacular sunsets and typically many great all-inclusive packages are offered. It all makes for a very seductive beach honeymoon vacation.

Hey, I could add a couple more since the Caribbean is full of beautiful and interesting places. Some may offer a little better snorkeling or fishing, larger or smaller hotels, more seclusion or more nightlife, but all are wonderful in their own way. You really can’t go wrong with these when planning and dreaming of your next Caribbean beach vacation!

Entry Level Oil Drilling and Offshore Jobs Training Programs

Having no experience in the Oil drilling industry is not necessarily an obstacle to getting work in an entry-level capacity. It is perfectly possible to get hired on an offshore rig without having worked on one before (most of us were in that boat at one time). There are actually many entry level offshore jobs available. It all depends on what you want to do, and having the the correct contacts to get your resume in front of. The range of entry level employment opportunities on offshore oil rigs include: Floormen or Roughnecks and Roustabouts, Crane Operators, Cleaners/Painters, Storekeepers, Rig Mechanic, Rig Electricians, Rig Welders, Rig Medics, Cooks and Assistant Cooks.

However, most people looking to get into the industry are looking to get hired on as a Roustabout or Roughneck, otherwise known as Floormen. While it is perfectly possible to get hired with no training or experience whatsoever, your odds of getting a Floorman job are going to increase greatly if you have even a modicum of industry training. Fortunately, there are several programs available to help those without any experience gain a solid understanding of the fundamentals of the job. Without a doubt, this can greatly assist getting hired; placement rates of these 1 to 8 week programs are about 97%. Following are a few of the better programs.

Maritime Drilling Schools – Maritime Drilling Schools has a world-wide reputation in putting out graduates from their 3 week Floorman course that can start work as a Roughneck in an Offshore or Onshore environment. Training consists of drilling programs, hands-on rig training, and industry safety programs. Life skills and job readiness will also be included during the program. The Certificates issued upon graduation, required in Canada, will enable you to start work anywhere in the world, right away. They also offer advanced training that will enable you to move up to Assistant Driller and Driller.

Enform – Enform is another renowned Petroleum Industry training company. They have been in business for 50 years, and work closely with the Petroleum Industry, and assist their graduates in finding jobs. Their 1 week Floorhand Roughneck training program is designed to prepare individuals with little-to-no experience to work safely on an oil or gas well drilling rig. The student will gain a foundation of knowledge and skills through classroom lectures, skills training and drilling rig practice sessions, and will be prepared on completion to become an effective member of a drilling crew.

PetroSkills – PetroSkills is geared more for the Engineering side of things, and is the considered the industry standard for technical training in the Petroleum Industry. It is the product of a consortium between the world’s largest oil companies, and serves the industry by training a wide range of technicians and engineers in the latest oil field and offshore technology.

Getting a foot in the door of the Offshore Oil industry by taking a few basic courses to learn the fundamentals is an investment that will pay off immediately in the form of higher wages as well as a greatly increased understanding of occupational safety. You’ll hit the job running, and your team mates will quickly see and appreciate that you will know what you are doing, and won’t be a risk to yourself or others. Once you have those fundamental skills, save time on the job hunt by taking advantage of the industry insider contacts provided by the better guides that are available for the Offshore Oil industry.

What part of Africa is best to travel in?

Africa has over the years been known as a haven for tourists all over the world. It is no doubt that the African continent has so much to offer in terms of cultural experiences, wildlife and a serene rejuvenating hideout for those who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Several countries in Africa have realised the importance of tourism to their economies and they have therefore moulded their tourism sector to accommodate visitors from across the world. One such country is South Africa. It has for a long time taken the spotlight as one of the best tourist destinations in Africa.

One of the attractions in South Africa is most definitely its rich history dating back to the Apartheid era. Many visitors are attracted by this history as they seek to learn about the past of this most economically stable nation in Africa. This past history has been documented in museums across the country. The famous one time prison cell of former president Nelson Mandela at Robben Island is a great attraction.

Besides the history, South Africa is also extremely rich in wildlife. It boasts of a great number of parks across the nation. South Africa is well prepared for its visitors having the most classy five-star hotels for visitors to live in when on tour. Kenya is particularly famous for the Maasai culture, a concept that has been embraced the world over. The Maasai culture is very appealing to tourists coming to Kenya who are always eager to explore the Maasai land in the Rift Valley. The visitors are intrigued by the young warriors who jump so high during the famous Maasai dance as well as the way this community interacts with wild animals in their natural habitat.

The Kenyan wildlife is another thrilling encounter that tourists to this country are always looking forward to. One these attractions is most definitely the Maasai Mara Game Reserve that is now an international acclamation because of the wildebeest migration in thousands to and from Kenyan to Tanzania’s Serengeti Reserve in the month of August. This has come to pull massive tourists to Kenya including the international media eager to go back to their countries and share this marvel with their people.

The Maasai Mara is also home to the big five wild animals that include the elephant, lion, leopard, rhino and the buffalo. The beauty of the Mara is that visitors are able to navigate easily through the open plains of the game reserve to view wildlife in its natural habitat.

Kenya is also home to a good number of national parks located across the country while the Kenyan coast is another famous tourist destination with its sunny beaches and five-star hotels.

Zimbabwe is the other African country which is quite famous for its wildlife, among a few other countries that include Tanzania, Egypt-rich in ancient history and Morocco.

Add the chicken broth, bring to a boil and simmer, covered, over low heat for 15 minutes.

Add the rice and beans, and simmer, uncovered for 15 minutes or until the rice is tender. Remove the soup from the heat.

In a small skillet saute the rosemary in the olive oil for 30 seconds. Add this to the soup along with the parsley and cheese. Season with salt and pepper to taste and serve immediately. Garnish with more cheese if desired.

–Four Seasons Crab Cakes–

2 pounds jumbo lump crabmeat

1/2 pound fresh codfish fillet

1/2 to 1 cup heavy cream

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

2 teaspoons sesame oil

2 tablespoons finely chopped parsley

2 tablespoons finely chopped chives

2 tablespoons basil, julienned

Salt and pepper to taste

Juice of 1/2 lemon

Olive oil for sauteing

Pick through crabmeat, removing all shells but being careful not to break up the large lumps too much. In a food processor, grind codfish until pureed. Add 1/2 cup of heavy cream and puree until incorporated. Then add more cream if needed. The mixture should be smooth and shiny, yet firm enough to hold its shape.

Place this mousse in a metal bowl and add the other ingredients, except for the olive oil. Take a small portion of the crab-cake mixture and saute in hot olive oil until golden brown. Taste to adjust seasoning. Form the rest of the crab cakes and saute in hot olive oil until golden on both sides.

Finish by baking in a 450-degree oven for 4 to 5 minutes.

Save the extra for a late night snack!

–Four Seasons Strawberry Pie–

1 cup All Purpose Flour

1/4 tsp. salt

3/4 stick butter

1 1/2 Tbsp. shortening

1/8 cup Ice water

Put flour and salt in the bowl of a food processor. Cut the butter, and shortening into the flour. Process a few seconds until the mixture resembles a coarse meal. Drop by drop add the water, processing briefly. The whole process should take about 20 to 30 seconds.

Wrap and chill for an hour. Remove from refrigerator, and let stand 15 minutes before rolling. You can double this up for a top and bottom crust.

Filling:

1 cup Sugar

3 Tbsp. Corn Starch

1 pint Strawberries

1 12 oz. can 7-UP (Yes, 7-UP – it works!)

Whipped cream.

In a medium sized sauce pan combine sugar, cornstarch, and 7-UP until creamy.

Cook over a medium to a medium high heat until the mixture becomes thick. When this mixture becomes thick, cool to room temperature, and add a couple of drops of red food coloring.

Wash, and cut strawberries into quarters, or smaller depending on how large they are. Sprinkle a teaspoon or two of sugar on the strawberries, and place them into the shell.

Pour the cooled 7-Up mixture over the strawberries. Allow this to set for a few minutes. Serve with plenty of Whipped Cream.

And that’s everything you need to create a Romantic Four Seasons Dinner for Two!

Bon Appetit!

The Six Best Places to Get Married in Ireland

The Six Best Places to Hold an Irish Wedding

As any newly-wed will attest to, wedding ceremonies are a enchanting event, whether at a chapel in Las Vegas or on a cliff-top in Hawaii. There is something special, however, about an Irish Celtic wedding. It might be the beautiful Celtic light that silhouettes the bride, or the crackling fire in an ancient castle, but it is certainly unique.

Adare Manor, once the hunting retreat of an English gentleman, is awe inspiring and stunning, and tops our poll. The staff, unassuming yet courteous, are of the highest quality. A candlelit dinner in the great hall is an experience in itself. As a location for a wedding, it is incomparable.

However, Powerscourt Castle, would run a close second to Adare. Just outside of Dublin in the Wicklow Hills, Powerscourt is warm and welcoming. Its beautiful and sprawling gardens also have one of the leading golf courses in Ireland.

For anyone who likes the buzz of a city, University Church is a perfect place for the wedding ceremony. On Stephens Green, in the very centre of Dublin, you’ll get a wide assortment of hotels in the surrounding area to have the wedding reception. Within walking distance there are the Merrion Hotel, the August Shelbourne Hotel, and the Fitzwilliam Hotel. From the majesty of the newly refurbished Shelbourne to the modern and chic Merrion, all of these locations can provide a celebration of only the highest quality.

Next on the list is Dromoland Castle, in the heart of County Clare. Proprietors of this location describe it as one in which modern age conveniences are combined with old-world sophistication. This is not an idle claim. Dromoland is less than ten miles from Shannon airport, a stop-over point for transatlantic travel, making it really accessible for family and friends who are coming from the US.

For those that are looking for a bit of the countryside, check out Hotel Dunloe Castle. Completely surrounded by sixty four acres of parkland, and overlooking the celebrated Gap of Dunloe, a wedding here allows the wedding party or their guests to go sightseeing to some of the most amazing landscape in Europe.

The Radisson SAS St Helens is catered to people who want the advantages of a city wedding without the bustle. Just fifteen minutes from the centre of Dublin, on extravagant and extensive grounds, it’s a hidden treasure. Within the walls the city could be a thousand miles away. The hotel offers a variety of packages, from a standard, basic rate to A Diamond Package for those who want to push the boat out that bit further.

The business of weddings in Ireland is flourishing and there is an abundance of resources and information, particularly on the internet, that can help in your planning. For information on things from bridesmaids dresses to wedding cakes, there are extensive lists available. If it is the Celtic magic that is attractive about an Irish wedding, there are a lot of jewelers who provide Irish wedding bands to suit any taste.

So, putting together a wedding in Ireland could not be too much simpler, except for the matter of finding someone to marry. But, really, how difficult is that?
